after a long day of travel, we decided for Astrolab for our first evening dinner

a few covered tables are situated inside while most of the seating is around the pool

as requested we were escorted to a table at the close end of the pool

Friendly service was provided by all the staff including the owner and her cute little doggie that meandered around the pool

A reasonable prix fix included the nightly special of lobster which looked tempting as many plates went by, but with Bisto Caribes a few days away, we ordered off the menu and a list of specials

a small piece of cheese lightly baked a served on a stick with a red pepper puree started the evening as a gift from the chef, it looked like a tiny corn dog

Appetizers included a creamy ball of burrata served in a refreshing avocado-mint soup and a duo of smoked salmon with finely diced olives and a simple tar tar with creme fraiche

my wife enjoyed her triggerfish while my octopus was served in a creamy fergola which resembled risotto

desserts were served with sparklers to celebrate our 28th anniversary, the baba rhum had a nice rum flavor and my flourless chocolate cake was equally delicious

rum shots finished the evening

several night a a week they feature live music with a female vocalist sang varied a nice variety our evening

That baba rhum looks a little r-rated to me, but maybe I'm imagining things!! grin

Gotta say, there is no way that I could eat that way on my first night on island! I just want to get something 'quick and dirty' and then go to bed! Good for you, that you could eat like that the first night!

He is unless it has been sold very recently. Most of the websites state that he is the owner.

That's a place I've always wanted to try. Wish the drive from Maho wasn't so long.

And thanks for the info and photos.

Another vote for nice weather on Sunday. We tried going this past Sunday and it was a wash out.
