We're starting to watch airfares from Reno to STT, and wondering what effect a possible US Government shutdown (or the threat of it happening) would do to airfares?? The past 3 days, SW has had a sale of 50% off on selected flights, and I'm wondering if that is a coincident??

If you can figure out what makes airfares go up or down at any point in time, you are a smarter person than I am!! I really don't think the shutdown, if any, will have much effect on airfares. I personally am concerned that TSA workers will start calling in sick after not getting paid for a few days. ...especially since we are due to fly (inside the US) on October 12.
