Cigarettes in NY are $10.45 a pack if you smoke a pack a day is it worth buying cigarettes in SXM and bring them home?

If I remember correctly from January, Marlboro Lights were around $30-$35 a carton. Cheapest seemed to be the little Asian markets vs grocery stores. So yes, I would think worth it.

Be careful what you buy. This year I brought a carton home for a friend and although they looked like the same American brand he smokes, they were Dutch and he couldn't smoke them.

There are limits to what you can legally bring in. Might want to look into that.

Haven't been to the island in a few years, but I would always bring back 8-10 cartons per visit...always declared them and only once asked if I was going to smoke them all and when replied yes, agent laughed..was never charged anything in many years flying back thru JFK. Most definitely with it with prices here!

Eric used to smoke--no more, thank god--and he used to bring smokes back. Like Shelby said, just declare them and pay duty, if assessed. Not illegal to bring in, so long as you declare and pay the duty.

I bought American Spirit cigarettes at Prime in Cole Bay $20.00 per carton, here in Ct. I pay $14.00 per pack.
