Does anyone know where we can buy fresh oysters? Not in a restaurant. In a store. We usually get them at Mono Prix but they only have them around Christmas.

When you say fresh you do realize that they aren't native to Caribbean waters.

They usually ship them in a box from France and then I shuck them. So they are relatively fresh. I’ll probably check with Super U. I think they are more of a Christmas thing.

I've had luck finding fresh oysters at my local seafood market. You might want to check out any seafood markets or fishmongers in your area. They usually have a good selection of seafood, including oysters.

Not sure, but try the fish store on the road between Fr. Cul de Sac & orient beach. On the other side of street just down from Leader Price. La Caban du Pēcheur.

Just a note: Here in RI there are several oyster farms and oysters are readily available. As long as they are kept chilled and moist, they can last 7 to 10 days.

It would be interesting if Carrefour carried them and at what price. Here in Westchester NY they are going for $1.65 each! I'd bring my shucking tool if the price was right!!

Don’t quote me but I think we paid around 60 euros for more than 30 oysters. I was shucking for a long time. But it was worth it. The problem is that we’ve only found them around Christmas.

Finally found oysters in Hope Estates at the store across from Bacchus. Very nice epicerie connected to Bacchus.

I’m thinking 35 euros for 20 in a box. But don’t quote me on that. I lost the sales slip. 😳

Okay Kenny, got the definite price. 50 euros for 25 Fine de Claire oysters. Took me a while to shuck them. I was sweating. I’m no expert. But worth the effort. Delicious. We will do the same probably two more times. Good excuse to go to Cool Heure for lunch. Got them at the store across from Bacchus. If you like oysters I highly recommend buying a box of French Oysters around Christmas.

Rather than shuck them put them on the BBQ and let them open.
