I’m usually too busy to post while on the island but today is a rare rain day. We arrived Sunday after a one hour delay from a thunderstorm in Miami. On approach there was fog and calm sea. We landed about 5 pm and were dropped off at the stockyard. It was about 2/3rds full. A Jet Blue landed after us. Our plane as a late arrival meant only about 30 minutes outside. Those without checked bags asked to be escorted thru ahead of us. Quickly thru C & I our driver said there were festivities in Marigot and drove to Orient by way of the Salt Pond.

Monday to Wednesday were forecast for 20 to 25 mph winds. Usually out of the east the wind was from the south which was pleasant at Orient Beach. Wednesday and today were forecast as rain. Wednesday was partly sunny in the morning, overcast at noon and the rain started at 3. By 4:30 it was a tropical downpour and not the ten minute shower we have seen in previous years.

We had dinner reservations at Le Pressoir. Thru the flooding our little Kia plowed on with wipers and defroster on full. I pulled up to the Valet Parking sign and stepped out into 2 inches of water running down Grand Case Blvd. We dined on the porch which was almost rain proof. During dinner a small excavator pulled out of the parking lot and went to the bridge to dig out a drain.

Dinner? If you don’t like modern or deconstructed presentations it maybe is not for you. We had the 3 course St Martin meal shown on their website menu. Some other patrons were having more traditional fare. I had the fois gras and the pluma. The fois gras was served like a slice of bar cake with a coconut frosting. It also had toast and a red pepper and pineapple “chutney”.

Medallions of pluma (pork loin) were served with vegetables. My wife had the Famous Parfait and Bouillabaisse. The Parfait is a foamy potato soup with an egg, parmesan cheese and truffle shavings on top. Various seafoods and potatoes were served dry in a bowl with the server pouring a pot of broth into the bowl. Dessert was Exotic Delite a half sphere of guava and mango custard on a coconut wafer. It’s Barbie pink. My wife had Royal Chocolate a cupcake decorated with gold leaf and much better than I can describe.

Other restaurants so far have been in Orient Village.
McCools=OK 2 Irish items on the menu otherwise similar to Telegraph.
Maison Mere=Wife liked the snapper.
Le Piment=best value.

Still raining. Going to walk the beach in swim suits.

Sounds like you're enjoying yourselves in spite of the weather.

We loved Le Pressoir in the old days before it was sound to the people who also own Le Temps de Cerises. We haven't dine there since it sold because the reports I here, while I sure food is excellent, don't stimulate me.

I guess I'm too old for upscale changes now. Want old world charm. We remember when GC village restaurants only had two seatings, 7 and 9:30 pm.

Enjoy your trip and tell when you eat.

Hi. Thanks for the report. We are the benefactors of your bad weather today, I guess. smile I added some additional returns, to make it easier to read.

If you get the chance, please think about trying to add some pictures, as would love to see them.

Where are you staying?

Twelve days at Residence Adam et Eve. Caroline and Alain didn't sell and have added 3 units farther up the hill. They also have increased the number of cruises in the catamaran to 2 a week.
