Hello!

Headed back to SXM in July. Would like to scuba dive Saba.
(We have dove several times on SXM and enjoyed it, but that is not SXM's sweet spot. And just looking for something new.)

With that in mind I am playing with three scenarios and would like some opinions from folks who have done it. Because we would also like to hike Mt. Scenery. We will be on ferry, wife will not fly.

1. Day trip - try to dive, eat, then hike, then make ferry back in one day?
2. Two day trip - dive, eat, look around, stay over, next day hike, look around, ferry back?
3. Go for two one-day trips. One day do dive, go back later in week to hike.

Thoughts? Thanks!

I haven't been to Saba, but I'd go for option #2. #1 is WAY too busy. And #3 takes up a whole lot more time, expense and effort, for no reason.

I've been to Saba many times taking the Edge over for a 2 tank dive. Not much time for anything else for a 1 day trip. Keep in might a hike up Mount Scenery is not advised after the deeper diving you'll have at Saba compared to the shallower SXM dive sites. Hiking day before ok but not after.

My suggestion, stay two nights and do the hike one day and the next dive as Scoob suggested. Don't rush the trip, enjoy a couple dinners on island and enjoy the peace that the island offers. Very different experience to SXM.

Also I would fly but not sure how that might adjust your diving schedule or equipment needed that you would take. Not an active diver.

I prefer the Isle seat

If they fly back they would have to request a low altitude flight from the service. They are used to accomplishing divers needs.

Todd--he said that his wife would not fly, so that is not an option.

Missed that, solves the altitude issue associated with flying!

I love a two or three day respite on Saba. Fly over, two nights at Queens Garden Inn and sail back. A perfect change of pace from SXM. 🙂🙂

Respectfully,

Thank you all. We are leaning to stay over. And I have heard of Queens Garden before - I will check that out also.

Figuring out the ferries seems to be a little challenge. smile
