Not Air Canada but Delta advised the same time frame last week. I departed on a Thursday on Delta and from entering the airport to arriving at gate A1, it was less than 30 minutes. I allowed 2.5 hours and that was way more than enough but it will depend on the day of the week, the airline check-in process and if the new technology at the airport is working properly.

Last Sat. was there 2 hours ahead for Delta flight and made it though custons in 30 min. As I've said before, if everyone gets there 4 hours before their flight it's just a traffic jam. To be correct, you go through customs and immigration when entering, not leaving. Security, passport control, etc. is when leaving.
