We always rent in orient village and spend most of our time in the area. Dinners tend to be in the village, grande case,or in our villa. We’re heading back next week for two weeks and I am looking for favorite places for lunch in the Simpson/maho area. Looking for something fun with solid, but not necessarily gourmet food. I would even consider something in Marigot. Tia for all your suggestions.

Driftwood Boat bar is fun. Good solid casual food with view of Maho beach. Personal experience with wings, ribs, pizza, Schwarma, chicken satay and grilled shrimp salad over the years consistently good with killer rum punch and frozen fruit cocktails made with real fruit.

Yacht Club by the Simpson Bay Bridge. Good food with view of the marina while watching boats, mega, yachts, and catamarans leave the marina to sea or enter marina during bridge openings.

Dinghy Dock on marina side, good solid bar food with fuller entrees. Multiple TVs to watch sporting events and good selection of beers.

Greenhouse and Buccaneer Beach Bar are both good choices. Also the Pelican Grill in the Flamingo complex.

Tortuga has a nice view and decent food. Right next door to Driftwood.

O Plongeoir in Marigot has a great French vibe.

All in Simpson Bay,

Little Jerusalem the best swarmi on the planet, food takes time

Pizza Italy thin crust pizza, reasonable prices

Sale & Pepe very good food but same menu as dinner so expect it to be costly

Don Pizza owned by chef of Sale & Pepe

Driftwood Boat Bar (not the pizza) great island atmosphere and views

Our lunches are almost always at a beach bar/restaurant, and are often our main meal. On the Dutch side, Dinghy's (now D's) on Simpson Bay beach, as well as K like Karakter, are favorites. We haven't been to K since the ownership changed, but friends who are have similar tastes to us in restaurants have, and say it's good. On the French side, La Playa and Coco on Orient are favorites, as well as Captain Frenchy, Le Temps de Cerices (LTC), and Sunset Café at Grand Case Beach Club, all in Grand Case. While we spend our day on the beach where we have lunch, you certainly don't have to do that to enjoy lunch there.

If you are looking for a place not on a beach in the Simpson Bay area I would highly suggest Vesna Taverna. We went there twice this last trip, once for dinner and once for lunch on our last day. Both were excellent and it was a "why have we not been going here more" moment.

On the beach K as in Karakter has upped their game, inline with some of the good French side beach places and do note French side style tipping. Really good fish n chips, burger and chicken satay. Pretty sure everything else is good as well, cocktails a a bit pricey would be my only negative there. On the French side but not on Orient and still on the beach Friars Bay Beach Cafe is our favorite on island, not too far from Orient and you can stop for lunch or spend the day there which is what we normally do.

I prefer the Isle seat

bob--A few random suggestions here. In general, we only have lunch on the water. Someone has probably already suggested it, but ON A DAY WHEN THERE ARE NO CRUISE SHIPS IN TOWN, try Driftwood. Right on the ocean and great views of the planes landing. Also, Sand Bar, in the Maho complex, parking by Sunset, or possibly on the road, if you're lucky. Again, not on a cruise ship day. I don't know if they validate parking there or not. You might also try Mary's Boon, on the best beach on the island to me, which is Simpson Bay. How about Rosie's on Mullet? Classic BBQ on the beach, reminiscent of Pedro's. Sigh.. And Friars Bay Beach Club, not a necessarily cheap lunch and they don't take credit cards, but very enjoyable, for a classic croque monsieur or a burger with lots of gooey cheese. And, for a great brunch, but NOT on the water at all, is Reveil Matin. (and while you're there, check out the art gallery and gift shop across the street!)

Enjoy!
