We went from Toronto to Sxm in about 4 hours. Flight was uneventful, landing a little brutal. Was out of the airport in about 25min. Took a taxi to atrium resort. Had dinner at greenhouse. I had New York steak and baby back ribs, my wife had grouper and bang bang calamari as appetizer.
My steak was cooked to perfection but it lacked any flavour. Ribs were dry. Grouper was good, calamari too sweet. I was charged $5 for a peppercorn sauce which was ridiculous. We paid $110. No drinks. We will not go back again.
Today we went to philipsburg. We had lunch at the pier. I had chicken legs and wife had combo chicken and ribs. The wait was a little over 30 min, but boy the taste was incredible. Kudos to the chef. She is really very good. Then we had some ice cream at Luciano. Excellent taste.
To be continued

OK, I don't understand how that was $110. Hope the rest of your trip is good.

Wow. We just got back from the Greenhouse. Wife and I each had their prime rib, and I mean PRIME, two drinks apiece and bill was $84 and change. No SC. Great service and excellent prime rib.

Maybe we are just unlucky. Last night we went to buccaneer and had burgers. We both got sick. It’s 4am and we both take turns to the washroom. Burgers were not entirely cocked imo. We paid $44 for 2 burgers and 2 bottles of sparking water. We don’t drink alcohol.

Wow, well that doesn't sound great. Maybe go to the French side for a meal to change it up!

We're the prices not on the menu when you placed your order?

Yes, the prices are on the menu. It was $109 with sc. I didn’t realize the sc so I paid $120 in total. Now is 7am and both my wife and me are feeling better, but for breakfast we are going to boil some eggs and eat some cheese. Tonight we are planning to go to moulin fou which is one of our favourite restaurants around this area.

Funny. SC wasn't added to our bill last night at Greenhouse. I gave her a 20 on the $84 bill.

The burger I had at BBB in March was one of the worst burgers I have ever had, ZERO taste other than the bacon and condiments I added.

ruralcarrier,
I felt the same. I do not understand why people like that place. We went once and that was plenty enough to ever go back.

We went to Juliette’s bistro for coffee. Such a nice place. Service was very good. We got 2 croissants and 2 cappuccino and a bottle of sparkling water. Total was $25. We will return.

Never had a service charge.

Am I reading this wrong, was it BBB?

alecu7 - If you like Juliettes you should try their Friday Night Special, Cheese Fondue for 2 with a bottle of wine for $33.

We changed plans and had dinner at Bovin instead on moulin fou. I had ribeye and wife had surf n turf with creamed spinach and asparagus. We finished with coffee and cakes. Service was impeccable, steak was excellent. Capucino was good not excellent. Chocolate cake was ok, cheese cake was very good. Total $136, I left $160. We will return for sure.

Interesting. What was the surf and turf, that it was that cheap? It appears to me that perhaps Bovin has reduced their prices, as their prices when they first opened were beyond ridiculous, versus other places in SXM. Glad you had a good experience.

That's a decent price for the NY strip, without the scallops. They must have reduced their prices.

I just checked their online menu and it appears to be the same as in March. Perhaps they have some decent specials. We thought about going one night but the $28.50 burger was a no-go for one in the group who wanted a burger. Hopefully it is good food but I still think the prices are a little steep.

I am not a strip steak fan but the price for the surf & turf was very good.

Tonight we went to Juliette bistro. We had octopus tapas that we shared and 8oz steak each with vegetables. Everything was cooked to perfection. Service was a little slow, but ok. Total was $65. I left $75. We will return. Bovin was closed today, not that we wanted to dine in there but just fyi. I think tomorrow will be Juliette again. We found a shortcut and it took us about 11min walking from atrium hotel.

We probably walked by you on the way down and back from Lee's. Going through the lower SBR parking lot and pool area is a direct shot. All flat walk.

Yesterday morning we went to Marigot. The place is still devastated. A lot of our restaurants are closed or don’t exist anymore. Same goes for shops. We felt very depressed. We will not go back to Marigot. Today we will stay at beautiful Kim sha beach where there are no see weeds except a little patch in the water right in front of the chairs. I can live with that.

Kim sha beach was packed today. Two groups of people came by bus. I think one group was from a big ship. A lot of animation today with over 100 people on the beach. It was nice. Before today, the beach was very quiet

Tonight we had picana wagyu and wagyu inside skirt. Both very good. We shared grilled vegetables. Service was not as good as 2 nights ago but not bad either. We had to ask for an ashtray three times until we got one. The couple next to us complained about their steak not being done the way they asked. I guess some days are good and some days are not. Total was $104. I left $120. We will not return this vacation. We have 2 more nights on the island and we will go to Juliette’s bistro.

I wasn't sure what a picana steak was, but I think perhaps it's supposed to be spelled "picanha"?? I know you spelled it how it is on the check, but that seems to be what it's supposed to be. Never had heard of it.

Nice concept, posting a picture of the bill.

Appreciate the comment Carol. I mostly do it because my memory is failing. But is also nice to know exactly how much it cost and to compare to next year, maybe

Regardless, it is a decent idea. People can argue when you say, "I paid X for this, but hard to argue with the picture"..

This morning we went to le sucriere for some French pastries and coffee. Been there twice already this vacation. For lunch we went to pizza Italy.we had each one pizza and a bottle of water. They have only one size pizza and that is 12”. It looks big. Thin crust and delicious. Sc was included in the bill. I asked what 4 coperti means since we didn’t have anything else, but she didn’t know what was that. Google translate from Italian tells me is covered. Still don’t know what it was. The olive oil in the bottle is super spicy.

Sounds like the cover charge they have in Italy, but there wasn't
any on your check. Probably because they have a service charge in SXM.
