This is my first trip report. It's going to be a little different since I am just going to report the little things about our vacation that made it memorable. This was our fourth visit to the island. Like all of you we adore St. Martin. We have a timeshare at the Sapphire. We found our room to be a little worn this year but everything was in working order. The crew at the front desk couldn't have been nicer to us. A huge improvement from other years.
This trip our daughter and son- in -law and my sister and husband joined us. We did most things as a group and had a great time. We went to Pinel and hiked over the mountain. Three girls in bathing suits and flip flops. Not exactly good hiking gear but we enjoyed it. The guys sat it out and enjoyed a beer! On Sunday afternoon we went to Ric's Place to watch the Eagles win the Championship. What a crowd, mostly Eagles fans and it was a wild party. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/circle.gif" alt="" />
The days were spent on a different beach everyday. We love Mullet and enjoy lunch at Rosies. We aren't late night people but we enjoyed our usual favorites, The Boathouse and Bamboo Bernies. As everyone knows the food is wonderful so I won't elaborate.
We shopped in Phillipsburg and we went to see Heeru at Touch of Gold. I wanted to have my diamond reset in a diamond setting. It is simply beautiful and it will be a precious reminder of the beauty of St. Martin.
To us, St. Martin is not a destination but a sanctuary, where you can go to relax and refresh your soul. We embrace the warmth of the climate and the people of the island who we find to be charming and welcoming.
This year our return trip to Philadelphia was delayed by 7 hours and we didn't leave until 10:15 PM. on Saturday night. Us Airways handled it as best as they could since they had to get another plane due to mechanical difficulties. Remarkably the passengers were extremely calm and patient.
Now as I sit here at work and watch my tan fade I can remember the warmth of the sun and the sound of the ocean. My memories will have to hold me for another year until we can return to make many more memories. St Martin creeps in to your heart and becomes a part of you. It's your own little paradise on earth and it's magic draws you back again and again.
