Newbie here-I have been lurking a bit and gathering info for an upcoming charter we have booked in late February. Lots of great info - glad to have found it. Many thanks to the community and hosts!

We are a group of eight traveling to Tortola for our first charter. Six of the group booked flights into STT on Saturday the 21st, while my wife and I are flying direct into EIS that day and plan to stay at Nanny Cay.

We are debating a rental car upon arrival, as the two of us will have close to a full day on Tortola prior to the big group arriving via ferry on Sunday. Is there a big enough rental to get all eight of us? We could drive it for the day and then pick them up at WE or RT? Maybe we should do a couple of cars? Or leave the driving to someone else?

We'd like to get out Saturday afternoon after arrival, thinking CGB for a bit and then a sunset dinner at Bananakeet perhaps.

Interested in the seasoned travelers opinions.......thanks in advance!

Rentals, especially one day ,are a bit harder to find in February, but with some effort you'll probably find one. As for 8 passengers, that's a bit difficult, limited supply in that size. Rental always makes sense vs taxi, assuming you are willing to try a little (not bad) adventurous driving.

I'd rent a car or maybe two.

For the first drive, you'll feel a little uncomfortable as you drive on the left but the wheel (most rentals) are on the left.

Remember: Shoulder to shoulder. Right turns onto the roadway can be initially daunting. After a short while you'll feel fine. Best advice I got from a local: Don't drive over 35. Watch for speed bumps. They are ubiquitous and annoying if you don't see them in time.

Renting a car is pretty relaxed. Little paperwork, drop off and pick-up where ever, set pricing usually per day. Dede's is super good (beats the airport rates and all the big guys). Pretty sure he has a couple nice SUVs:
