Two couple and 4 kids, would like to stick with A/I, looking for something more upscale than Beaches Resorts, and stumbled this in St. Lucia. Thoughts? Has anyone been here?

Kim: I can't help you about the specific place you've chosen, but we love the southern part of St.Lucia. Not for the beaches, but for the hiking and the hot springs and the creole cooking. I hope you will get away from the resort and see the Pitons, the Tete Paul trail, the volcano, etc. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" />

Thanks, stayed in Castries in 1990 at what was "Couples" which I think is now Rendevous? Thinking of going with friends next year for New Years and there are 4-5 kids between us, so A/I is the way to go, other property we are looking at is Windjammer Landing. I was bummed in 1990 we never made it to the Pitons.

The Pitons , volcano, hot water baths , the rain forest are great places to visit.

Pigeon point is ok. In Gros Ilet Friday nights for Karoke at the Green Onion Pub was fun.

They have 2 Sandals' resorts. There was a place that I can't remember the name but had a nice restaurant that overlooked the Moorings sailboat rental. Then there are all the banana plantations.

Thanks Wendell, if we do it sticking with Coconut Bay, only because price is right and seems to have a lot to keep the kids busy. But i am, definitely going to go off grounds and check out the area. Didn't do that much in 1990, only went to Castries and then a trip to Martinique. I know the beaches in the area aren't great (spoiled in St.Maarten), but that's ok. TrVeling with another family and this seems to work.

Kim: The beaches aren't the white sand ones we have in the northern Antilles, and I wouldn't go to St Lucia for a beach vacation. But there are so many other amazing things to do and see that make it a wonderful destination!

Funny, just had a chat with my hubby saying the same thing. Traveling with another family of 5 makes things tricky, and they don't want to rent a house or stay in a condo/hotel so a/I is our true only option. I plan to explore this time in St. Lucia, 1990 we hardly left and were two hours from the airport, this is only 8 miles and near many of the sites. And cheap in comparison to others places, especially over New Years!!!

Do you like Anse Chastanet better than Sugar Beach? We have been to Sugar Beach more recently, but thought it very nice -with snorkeling just as good as at Anse Chastanet.

I think you made a good choice. We stayed at Windjammer Landing and it was very nice, but not much going on at this resort. Very quiet and with kids you will have more for them to do at Coconut Bay. We have gone to St.Lucia twice now but SXM seems to keep pulling us back!!! Enjoy your trip!

We stayed at Coconut Bay two or three years ago for Spring Break with our two kids (ages 9 and 11 then). Everyone had a great time. We didn't get a chance to try all of the restaurants (we ate mostly at the buffett), but the kids loved the water slides, my son really liked the video game room they had, and I thought the pool/beach area were very nice.
