I recently came across these photos of the JR from my very first trip to the BVI in 2005. It was one of my favorite places on Tortola, if not the Earth. Was happy to get to know over the years, and am still friends with Lou!
Still greatly missed down here..heartbreaking to see the wreckage just sitting there thanks to the family that wants a ridiculous deal to rebuild it...and Lou did try to make that deal and bring the JR back.Sad.
My wife and I loved the JR. So many fun times and good meals there. Best garlic bread ever! Sounds crazy to wax nostalgic about such a common dish, but theirs was the best ever. Wish I had paid more attention to how they prepared it.
Re Omar's Sandspit, home of the Loyal West End Yacht Club, anyone on island is welcome to the great chilli cookouff there on July 5 at 5 pm..just $5 a tasting ( yes I agree stupid low)..and $5 for a raffle ticket.Guaranteed there will be some great chilis from around the BVI's..(This all started with Lou at the JR years ago..thanks Lou)..(I'llpay the entry fee for anyone replicating Lou's garlic bread!)
