Being from Florida, I understand hurricanes in late September (both at home and in SXM). Do the empty beaches outweigh the risk of a hurricane? Stay in Orient Village and am on Club O beach daily. So many people everywhere else on the beach during the day when walking or at restaurants at night when I usually go in December. Thoughts?

Wondering also. Have trip planned Sept 26 - Oct 1st. Is that a decent time or should we plan another time? Never been. Staying at Adam and Eve.

A lot of restaurants close in September and October to give their employees the required vacation time. We like to go in November and December as it is still not real busy and everything is open.

We rebooked for Dec 4-9.

Wise decision.

Traditionally a lot of restaurants( both sides) close for the September month to give the staff a vacation as well. Back in the day Cheryl and Andy use to come visit friends and family in NY-NJ-CT!!!

After seeing a Cat 5 Erin miss SXM by 100-150 miles, I think I’ll pass on a September visit. Maybe I can squeeze in a November visit or just wait until next year.

As massive as Erin is, I'm sure that miss by the eye still brought a lot of rain and wind. November is a great time on the island!

Chances of a hurricane are few. Many restaurants open, beaches quiet - no reason not to visit mid september.
