Sunday brought peaking sunshine in the morning turning to clouds by noon. What better reason to take some time away and take the 35 minute journey to Cupecoy for the jazz brunch at Rendezvous
We immediately saw Carib Lee and his lovely wife to join them for the first set I would felt guilty if we didn't see them since our time on the island overlaps although on different sides of the island. Unfortunately we will be moving to Maho on Wednesday while they will be going home
The music is always very good and you never know who is sitting in and what they will play, I can remember some George Benson and Marvin Gaye although almost all songs were familiar. They allow each musician to showcase their talents during the improved solos. The crowd is always very friendly as most are regulars. We will be keeping our eye out in the Out and About local publication as our picture may be in an upcoming issue.
The weather was breezy and not hot at all making it very comfortable to enjoy the hot jazz. Frozen mojitos also kept it cool.
We nibbled on a excellent tuna tar tar along with a recommend popcorn shrimp which isn't on the menu
It was so nice to see Carib Lee and his wife again, and promised to make better plans next year to to spend a relaxing meal together
Dr. Phil hope you enjoy Lee's picture Miss you too
After a quick stop at RI La Plage to say hi to our week 34 friends we caught a hour of late afternoon sunshine by the pool
There was no traffic heading back to Orient
We needed a simple dinner and made a return visit to Villa Royale many years ago in grand case for some creole food.
Villa royale is across the street from the Lolos and just a tiny bit north. Once again we parked in the north end free lot near the basketball court and soccer field. On our exit, it seems the police block off gran case boulevard at this point maybe around 800 pm
Service is polite and the inside dinning room was air conditioned
We shared game on, a big bowl cocktail, mojito like with a splash of original. Drinks a well made by a professional bartender who has been there for years.
My wife ordered pretty standard coconut shrimp While conch tempura was not available, my second choice of cod fritters were plentiful, served hot and very moist
For main course, I thought my wife's mah mahi tar tar was just okay. My whole red snapper was cooked perfectly and didn't need any sauce at all
What a joy it was to have mahokid and his lovely bride join us at Rendez Vous on Sunday. It was fun catching up.......and sharing libations, food and good music was a plus. Since we leave tomorrow, Connie and I will have to look forward to getting together again next year. Enjoy the rest of your vacation.
