They really need to get this under control; it will ruin the town if it continues.

This is awful. Makes one have no desire to go near a jewelry store, for fear of being in a middle of a robbery.

What is really upsetting is that the police are asking merchants to take actions to protect themselves but where is the police presence on the main streets? When Simpson Bay Resort was robbed, how long did it take for the police to arrive.

Divico followed suit for 2nd time this summer yesterday.

We saw several security guards male/female with K-9s at various places around the island. If you can’t have a German gun, all take a German Shepherd

KPSM needs to have patrolmen on foot and on Bicycles in these areas. If for nothing to get on the "talkies" get a head of these brazen guys!!! The judges have to crack down on there sentences too!! None of this slap on the wrist. You brandish a gun in a robbery, you will do a boatload of time!!! PERIOD!!! Just thank God no one was injured!!

Bikes are not gonna help against scooters. Though they had them in the past for patrols. If any parallel, as scubaman says correctly, it is the scooter thing.

And for punishment levels, you need laws to change by politicians not judges.

You might be surprised how dogs deter. But agree it only helps somewhat.

So why towns and cities all over the states and other small islands have cycle police and more police on foot. Can't out run a walkie talkie if the police are in the area!!

But how does an officer on bike act with a scooter then? As scubaman stated all these robberies have use of scooters in common (not including the one where they drove a car into a hotel)

I spoke with a jewelry store owner yesterday; I have known him for almost 30 years. He indicated that other than keeping the doors locked, he is considering getting out of the business as it is not safe any longer. Pretty sad.

Yep. When store owners fear for their safety and life, it might be time to make a change.
