Great news! Apparently they are still waiting on approvals as I wasn't able to book/look at fares. Hopefully will be up and running soon.

In general I have not been a fan of SW, but since they are doing away with no assigned seats, I'm all in! Wonder what the prices will be?? Anyway, always great to have another option!

@Carol: my 2 cents is this will tank prices of competition also somewhat

No....I was looking in May of next year. And as I said, probably still working through approvals.

Seems to me it would be smarter to start in high season.

By these guys everything has a reason. The more so if you come in with a splash of 9 flights one time

@CaribLee SWA opens its calendar for reservations different from other airlines. It opens its calendars by quarter about 6 months in advance. Sign up for notifications at the SWA on their website to learn when seats can begin to be purchased for SXM flights.

Orlando better than Miami but Southwest would have to be cheaper to get us away from AA. Too many unpleasant experiences with Southwest who is no longer a low cost carrier whenever I check their prices.

They are currently accepting reservations through June 3 of 2026.

TJ--we almost always fly AA, but Orlando is two hours closer to our house than Miami. So definitely be interested in checking them out.
