Has anyone used Intercaribbean recently? We are looking at flying into San Juan and then Intercarribean to Beef. For several reasons Miami to Beef is not working for us. St. Thomas ferry is not an option. My husband is disabled and I am the pack mule when it comes to luggage. Thanks in advance!!

We have neighbors who have flown InterCarribean without issue. Periodically, they have problems, and when they do, they are big problems: cancelled flights, delays, poor communication. Our first choice is American through Miami. Without Silver, the options are definitely reduced.

We’ve flown AA through Miami to Beef. Problem is AA has lost their mind on fares. We fly out of New Orleans which is always ridiculously expensive. We are coming for 2 weeks next June. Land based on Tortola.

What part of Memphis do you live in? I was born in West Memphis. Both my parents are from that area.

I checked prices for you: this is not the right time to buy. Do you have AA miles? Next month you could get great flights from New Orleans, through Miami for 20k miles, roundtrip. That price is often available about two months out. Looking at Google Flights, they're currently asking $1100 in economy for next June. Tickets are less than that in upcoming high season.

You might want to check Cape Air or Tradewinds. We were able to get some great deals for December and August. For May we will just use AA as the flights are so high! Glad we booked early however, it wasn't that great of a deal for May!!

Intercarribean seems to run 3 flights a day. It appears they cancel one of the three each day.

Here's another option: fly to SXM and connect on WinAir. Looking at next June the prices are pretty good.

We have 85,000 points with AA. Thanks for the research. I’ll keep looking.

Just booked CLT-EIS for Nov roundtrip at 20,000 points.

One observation about AA points: they are charging a lot for business class seats, which had not been the case. Maybe demand is higher than available seats up front, corporate types with plenty of miles. Economy seats are reasonable.

Because my husband is handicapped we get priority boarding and normally get seats close to front. We have found calling an agent and booking through the agent gets us better options.

We are definitely not the business class clientele. We trie to make it to Tortola once a year for two weeks land based. And we have been through all of the scenarios. New Orleans to Miami straight to Beef. My husband decided one trip we were rich and we flew into St. Thomas and got a private water taxi. Best trip ever but we are not rich lol. We had a few trips flying into San Juan and flying air sunshine to Beef which actually worked out really well for us.

I live in Covington, La. and we go down 2-3 times a year. AA plays games with prices, especially this far out, they will come down. I've seen where they are north of $2,000 Round Trip, and come down to $850 Round trip, especially in June. I would set-up a notification on Kayak for the dates you're looking for, and it will keep you abreast of pricing. The sweet spot will probably be 3 months out, but if it gets near $850 Round Trip, probably pull the trigger.
I've flown Intercarribean, or bought a ticket for Inter. 3 times, they flew 1 time from SJU, no problems, the other 2 left me stranded, and they wait till in the middle of the night, so you have no alternative. In my opinion, they will cost you more than you will save, they are on my DO NOT FLY LIST. They are based out of the Turks & Caicos, so they don't have to follow any norms, that a U.S. based airline would need to.

The price reduction for flights into beef only happens if they are not filling up at the desired rate. They often go up not down. Sliding a trip just a few days can however produce a much lower fare in some cases. American discontinued all code shares through SJU and is forcing all EIS traffic through Miami.

Was AA ever a Cape Air codeshare? United and JetBlue were. InterCaribbean doesn't have codeshares, AFAIK. It's worth keeping an eye on Tradewinds and Caribbean, to see if they fill the gap left by Silver.

Hello Kajunlady6, I flew interCaribbeen from San Juan to Tortola on 10/15 to 10/23 with no issues. I did hear about some cancellations during the week though.
