Anyone know if the new RT Fast Ferry route leaving CA at 5:30pm on Saturday and Sundays is running? Landing on saturday 4:40....I want to make that last run of the day.

We flew into STT on Saturday, Nov 29 and the 3 cab guys we asked just outside the baggage exit all said we had to go to Redhook even though I knew the RTFF should have been running. I don't know if it didn't run that day, they just didn't know about it or they wanted the extra cab fare to RH. So just be aware of what happened to us.

When I asked here, after the fact, I got two good pieces of advice:
1 - call ahead - better to try on weekdays not around lunch time.
2 - Use a private taxi. Kevin Cambell 340-643-0025 or email him at kevintaxi101@yahoo.com . My take is he is friendly, helpful and can really help out in a pinch.

Take the cab to Charlotte Aamlie ferry dock..run inside..ask at desks who is running..if there's nothing for you jump back in the cab to Red Hook..

Next time just charter from us, CYOA we are 400 yards closer to the airport than the ferry terminal is. You can spend happy hour in Frenchtown or on your boat instead of possibly riding a ferry. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />

Good luck, you could call from your connecting airport but four or so hours later you might get a different answer out of the Ferry Companies.

Captain Jay runs CYOA Charters...they charter monos and cats for bareboating - you're thinking water taxi....he does not do that.

But we will let you drive your own "water taxi" for a week. Won't need the Road Town Boat then.

I will call the Ferry Dock a few days before the trip to confirm. Jay, I know what you mean about the hit or miss issues. Would love to charter from you next time! I will certainly let all know. I did get an email from the ferry confirming they are running the winter late run on weekends. That and $3 will get me a venti coffee.

Great information. I called RT Fast Ferry this morning (Thursday Jan 15) and asked for Saturday Jan 15 schedule. At first, she said 16:15 but when I specifically asked about one at 17:30 she said they might be one but I'll need to call back tomorrow.

I like Manpot's suggestion to check the CA terminal first, then go to Redhook. But it looks like the last ferry from RH is 17:00. I know a few years back when our flight was delayed, we took a late ferry from RH (something like 8PM?). But nothing like that on the schedules.

We get in at 15:53 or so, so making the 17:00 shouldn't be a problem. But keeping options open is the plan.

I like Manpot's suggestion too but it will be a lot easier to stop and check if you hire a private taxi. We had a van full of groaners and a driver that insisted the only ferry was in RH and didn't want to stop. Then what do you do? I'd talk to the driver before you leave and tell him that's what you want to do, it could avoid a bad scene in the cab.

Like sail2wind said trying to get to RH before 5pm with a 15:53 arrival can be difficult. Several things can conspire against you. Late flight, baggage takes 15 minutes to show up, you are first on the van and it takes 10-15 minutes to load it full, traffic that time of day and a few people that need to be dropped off along the way. It can work out but it will probably be very stressful.

Pre arrange with Kevin Campbell. He knows the ferry schedule. There is no other way.

I'm trying to do the same thing, flights into STT that have the correct returning flight are landing at like 4:22pm, and even packing light with carryons I'm sketched about making it, there are 3 people with me, maybe more. Coming in Feb. 5:30 would work great but I can't find the schedule that represents that. We've never been and have a charter starting sun, AM we want to be there for.

Following up from yesterday's post. Today (16JAN) RT Fast Ferry confirmed there will be a 5:30PM Fast Ferry from CA on Jan 17. No 9PM from RedHook. So checking the day before you arrive seems to be a requirement.
