Hello TTOLers,

Next week, we will be travelling to VG via a flight to EIS with two friends that have good mobility but are older and slow movers.

Can someone describe the process of getting from the airport to the ferry dock at Trellis?

Google maps makes it look like the dock is very close, that we just walk over.

Is it that simple? We will have checked luggage.

you can if you want. Technically its at the end of the runway of EIS airport. Not sure they will let you walk down the runway tho
so if you go out the doors of the terminal and go to the road and keep going left, maybe about a mile. Not sure how much luggage and such you have.
I would think a taxi from airport to trellis wouldn't be that much and your older slow movers will appreciate you.

You can definitely walk to the ferry dock. It's about 100 yards from the airport. You could walk at a slow pace and get there faster than it would take to get into a taxi and ride there.

It's a flat walk. I've done it carrying a good bit of luggage. I was younger then! I'd say see how everyone is doing and take a taxi if folks are tired.

Speedys has a free shuttle

We walk to Trellis Bay, but with luggage I would take a taxi or the Speedy's shuttle. How long between when you land and your ferry?

Our flight gets in at 3:10pm

So you're probably aiming for the 4:30. Depending on how long it takes to get through Immigration, you might have time to stop at Trellis Market. There is a new road (not for cars) connecting the market and the barge landing.

The ladies out front when exit customs will call speedys for you. It makes a lot more sense with luggage and especially with seasoned citizens.

There is a shuttle to the ferry, or a taxi.

Unless the older folks are totally disabled, it is literally a 200 yd walk. However, the taxi guy will be happy to take you - but not free!

Your opinion on their ability to walk dosen’t matter AND she wasn’t asking for a FREE ride!

Reporting back on our experiences -

We had two groups travelling at different times.

Group one did a private transfer with Speedy's from Trellis to VG and Speedy's van took them to the dock. They were first off the plane and first thru C&I, it was quick. The older of the two definately would not have enjoyed the walk.

Group two was picked up as part of our boat day. The Captain docked at Marche, we had drinks until their plane landed and meet them at the airport. It took 1.5 hours for them to clear C&I. We walked back to March together, with my husband and I handling their luggage.

If seasoned citizens is a typo I love it, if not... I love it
