Eric, you shouldn't need a power strip, just a 3 prog adapter. I think you will be surprised how long the batteries last. On my Canon DSLR I recharge about every 1000 shots or so.

Eric, unrelated, but since you mentioned the camcorder. At night you probably will not need to use the night shot switch on the camera. But know how to turn it off and on.
Makes you wonder what items did Dr. Livingston thinking about packing for his journey across Africa?
Perhaps you should consider some Sherpas.
