We have 10+ cruises under our belt and my best suggestion is not using the ships shore excursions. You do not need to get up at the crack of dawn and wait in line with herds of people exiting the ship. I am a diver and always get in an afternoon dive. The ships excursion will be at least 50% more expensive. I Google dive shops in Cayman and believe me, they want your business and will get you back to the ship on time. My son was a Capt. in St. Thomas and his company took cruise passengers on snorkel trips. The cruise ship shore excursion on his boat was $125pp, his company actually charged $75 pp. Sometimes we will just take a taxi to a public beach, most have food, beer and chairs. Some hotels have a daily fee for using their facilities, which can be a fun day.

For your Grand Cayman stop, I highly recommend booking a Stingray City trip. I second the last poster's recommendation about booking your excursion with a local company rather than through the cruise ship. Check out the GC web sites for 1/2 day trips to Stingray City.
