We'll be chartering a boat in March and with college boys on board I was thinking it'd be fun to have dessert a few nights. Any suggestions or recipes for easy desserts to make on a cat? Or good places to stop in the islands to pick up great desserts or pastries?

Bushwhacker makes a good dessert.

Someone chime in and tell me the name of the gal that has a bakery on JVD....I am having a senior moment!!! She had some good carrot cake last time! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> Cannot believe I can't think of the name....we go there whenever we are there.

Baileys rocks works for me! The girls have snagged Dove Bars from Deliverance several times and they were good to after 4 hours in the freezer aboard.

Spread some crackers ( any kind of crackers except herb, onion, garlic) with peanut butter, Lay them in a flat metal pan. Break or cut candy bars in small pieces ( chocolate and caramel or toffee work really well) and sprinkle the candy over the crackers.

When dinner comes off the grill and the grill is still pretty warm, but the gas flame is out or charcoal is well down in heat, put the pan on the grill and close the grill cover. All you want to do is make the PB and Chocolate melty and runny.

Boat S'mores.

Pam's Bakery at Neptune's has some great items. One of our favorite boat desserts is Walker's shortbread with chocolate. It goes great with Ponche Kube or Cruzan Velvet Cinn.

Cheers, RickG

Great ideas - thank you! We're bringing down a polar bear cooler with prepared steaks, pulled pork, burgers etc. I was going to make chocolate chip cookie dough, freeze it in balls and vacuum pack it. Then pop a few in the oven for late night sweets.
Saildoggie - what's deliverance?

Deliverance is an on water grocery store who delivers between Salt and Norman. You can hail them on channel 16 VHF

Well---- if you are bringing a cooler, then you could certainly bake brownies, package in squares for single servings... freeze those and bring along, too.

If you are at Leverick, Bucks store has ice cream.., and yes, you can get it back to the boat before it melts.

Brownie ice cream sandwiches-- Choc chip cookie ice cream sandwiches..... ummmmmmmmmm

Breeze.
