Hello all, again:

This will be the first time we will pre-provision when chartering (end of February.) We thought we would get the bulky stuff first and then spot shop for fresh stuff before we leave the charter base.

I compared Bobby's and RiteWay. I was surprised that Bobby's had a much larger selection. While RiteWay was about $25 less expensive, Bobby's won with their discount special (see their website.)

My concern with Bobby's is final cost. They have a disclaimer that prices may change. The spreadsheet / price list shows a date of August, 2014. Has anyone recently ordered from Bobby's using the spreadsheet? If yes, how different was the final cost from that calculated on the spreadsheet? I am also concerned about the substitutions I have read about in other posts - it does seem to be hit or miss, though.

What is a customary tip for the delivery person? I'm thinking $20US on a $500 order is fair.

Thanks for reading and the responses!

Warmly,
MAU2

My Bobby's spreadsheet order in August, December, and January were all charged exactly what the spreadsheet showed (after discount).

Something has definitely changed in their charging strategy. The charge used to always vary from the spreadsheet total but the last 4 orders have been exactly the same number as the spreadsheet.

I suspect they used to run the order thru a register and no longer do that for some reason.

When you submit your order via email you will receive an email with a pdf file attached which summarizes your order, item cost, discount and total cost. she usually sends the email within 24 hours of placing the order.

Thank you for the responses / information.

I submitted my form the other evening. I received a response the next day with the total. I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually less than what my spreadsheet had calculated - even before the 5% Web Discount.

Thus far, this is a 10/10 transaction. If the items show up as ordered (with little substitution,) I will be very pleased and will sing praises to Bobby's (which no one really wants me to do, as I can not carry a tune if my life depended on it.)

Fair thee well...
