Trip Report February 5th thru 13th, 2006

Left Boston on AA February 4th, 8pm to JFK in NY, slept at the Ramada at JFK, and on to SXM on 8 am direct flight. Arrived on the island about 1pm, and did that warmth feel great!

Car Rental: Lesley of Kenny's Great as always!

Accomodations: Divi Little Bay (6 nights) and Turquoise Shell Inn (2 nights).

Check in on Sunday is SOOO much faster than Saturday. Dropped the stuff off in the room, and had to eat. Jumped in the car, and headed for Taboula Mango’s. Almost made it, but had to stop in first for a quick hello to everyone at DKGems , then on to lunch.

Dining:

Breakfasts: Mostly pastry from the local bakeries.
Turtle Pier – our annual mango pancakes – very good

Lunches:

Taboula Mango – good – fried calamari then pizza
Lolos – good – ribs, peas and rice
Le Belle Epoque- excellent – escargot and huge salads
Bucanneer Beach Bar – excellent - swordfish sandwiches

Dinners:

Peg Leg Pub – good – filet mignon
L’Alabama – beyond excellent (as always) – scallop app. – mahi mahi / lamb tenderloin / ice cream cream puff with chocolate sauce.
Baywatch- TTOL party dinner – very good – mussels / beer battered seafood platter.
Johnny B under the tree – good, for the price
Tabba Khady – excellent

Things we did: Monday morning, first thing, we both got an hour and a half massage, to start things out right. A couple days on Little Bay beach, a day on Friar’s beach, a day on Simpson Bay beach, a couple hours at Anse Marcel beach. A day of shopping in Marigot, and several hours on a couple of days in Phillipsburg.

Tried for a sunset sail on Scoobidoo, but got rained out.

TTOL party @ BBB... fun time talking to all the great TTOLers.

TTOL dinner @ Baywatch... again, very good food, and Cheryl and Andy were great to have this party, as always!

All in all, another very enjoyable trip to SXM, but way to short. We usually stay 2 weeks, but have 3 other trips planned for this Spring, so had to cut this one down to 9 days. Back to 18 days next year!! Can’t wait to return!
