Hello everyone! Just got back from two weeks at Mahoe Bay on VG. Great weather and crystal clear water. The water was actually as clear as it is in July. Because they haven't had much rain lately the bugs were not a problem and I am super sensitive to the little devils. Other news that might help people who are planning trips:

The new gorcery store across from the Police Station, Supa Value, although small, seems to have good produce- grapes, papaya, mango, pineapple, etc. Rosy's down the towards the turn off for the Copper Mine also had an excellent selection. The produce boat comes in on Thursdays so the first 4 or 5 days after that are the best then it gets pretty sorry looking. The meat selection at the Supa Value was good but the quality is only fair.

Bringing in meat etc. We did not have a problem since we were coming from the US but entering in through VG is always a bit smoother than Tortola. There are BIG signs prohibiting anyone from the UK from bringing in anything at all. I have to add that the meat(chicken)at Rosys and RTW's was very very good. Actually - this trip reinforced my view that you can get almost everything you need on VG now with the possible exception of hamburger which, while available, is not too good! Save yourself a lot of trouble and shop on VG.

Watersports over at Leverick is certainly worth checking out for a dinghy trip over to one of the islands near North Sound and perhaps lunch at the Fat Virgin near Biras, but 4 adults in one dinghy - while allowed - was way too many! It was still a great day of snorkeling and exploring.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. If anything else comes to me I'll post it later.

Kate
Edited by Administrator on 4/30/01 03:46 PM.
