Have a trip to europe and med cruise 6 weeks away for 4 people. What is the best type of travel insurance that covers trip hiccups and medical evacuation? Is there a group rate? Things to look for/insist on. Recommended companies. Trip duration 2-3 weeks. Thanks for any help.

I just found a new company...Insureandgo.com. They seem to be quite a bit cheaper than any of the others I've used in the past. If you're from the US, make sure you click on the American flag in the upper right to get pricing in US $$.

Suggest you check out TTOL sponsor Insure My Trip, from the link here. You can compare a ton of different companies side by side and decide which one suits your needs best.

Concerning medical evacuation, I provided the following comments on a related thread recently:
Here are some questions to ask when shopping for medical evacuation coverage within a comprehensive trip insurance policy: 1) Does the policy cover pre-existing medical conditions, 2) Does the coverage get you home, not just to the nearest facility that is certified for treatment of your condition, 3) Is there a possibility that your illness/injury may require the use of a private air ambulance. Minimal evacuation coverage limits may get you home on a scheduled flight with a commercial airline but very possibly would not in an air ambulance with critical care capabilities. This could easily cost hundreds of thousands of dollars especially if you are far from home or are in a remote location.
I have used squaremouth.com several times and like it a lot.

been to the recommended sites and appear easy enough to add info. Although they only ask me one country to make the initial quote on. Seeing that from the time the plane takes off in US, we will hit France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Spain.......I would of thought that would be interesting info.......

So, my question, what about the actual companies who provide the insurance. The only one I've heard of is the money changing company Travelex. Any goods/bads people have had would help me make a stab at new names to me.

Might want to look at SOS insurance.

The only / best real solution is SkyMed, a TTOL sponsor. Buy an annual membership and add global coverage for $99. There is nothing else at their level, and I've known them for 13 years...
