Just back from 8 days in VG - weather was great - had a great view of a lightning storm last wednesday nite - power was out for a few hours but the breeze was cool - great flights down with US Air YYZ to Charlotte to SJU to VG on Air Sunshine - all on time. Picked up a car from Mahogany Rentals - Hit Mad Dogs for an early carib while waiting for my kids to come in on a later flight - met up with Spencer (Rock piano man) and Edith and Ludwig (Guavaberry) - Went to the leverick bay BBQ on Friday the 21st - the PR Navy was there in full force. Stayed at the leverick bay apartments on Friday nite - very good value for money - wandered over to Mahoe at 10:00 AM on Saturday while our guests were packing up - played on the beach and out of their way so as not to rush them and the Mahoe Bay staff while they cleaned up Adagio Villa and made the villa ready for us.
Saturday afternoon Bath and Turtle for lunch to say hello to Liden and Marcus - Saturday nite dinner at the Rock - great food and met up with Dwight, Paola, Ninja, William et al. Sunday more fun in the sun at the beach and in the pool - Monday got the kids a 17 foot boston whaler so they could motor up and down VG touring various snorkle locations - also very good value from Leverick Bay water sports - $210 for the day and only about 40 bucks worth of gas. - Monday ate in. Did the usual stops at Bucks, RTW , Supa Valu and Rosy's for various food and drink items.
Dropped off the kids at various locations around the island for the next few days while Marion and I lounged around the pool reading a few books - found out the phone was not working but no loss - apologies to anyone trying to reach us but we didn't notice for a few days.
Tuesday nite at the Mineshaft - great ribs - kids did mini golf - met up with VeeBee there and at the Rock later - Wednesday nite watched the light show from our patio and stayed out of the rain (filled up the cistern with fresh rain water) - Thurday the baths - lunch at the Top of the Baths - great food as usual. Friday did Chez Bamboo and met up with IAMCHAS (Lynn and Charlie)- kids went off to Limers for some pool - then home to bed about midnite to get up the next morning for the 8:00 am flight to SJU - toured the old city until time to go to airport to catch our US air flight to Philly then on to Toronto - If anyone wants a great lunch in SJU try the Parrot Club near the Chris Columbus statue in the Old city. Absolutely the best Tuna I've had in ages.
Now working on the group to go down in November.
cheers
