this is our 3ed trip to BVI ,although this time we will be staying in a villa near Sopers hole .
we need to get to the ferry landing at sopers to meet the manager ad follow to the villa .
my question is would it be best to rent a car at the airport ,we arrive about 6:30 pm ,and drive to sopers ,or pay a taxi for 6 and pick up a rental in sopers

You'd need a pretty large rental to fit 6 plus luggage. And driving from one end of the island to other at night, after a (probably) fairly long travel day, I'd bite the bullet and take a taxi, enjoy the ride. Get a rental from Jerry the next day.
