Hello-this is my first post. After many trips to the USVI's staying on island, my wife and I would like to do a crewed or captain only charter for just the two of us. We are mid-40's. The only sailing I have done was with my grandfather as a kid but I absolutely loved it (I do own a ski boat but that is way different!). At some point I would like to acquire the skills and experience necessary to bareboat charter. It's a bucket list item for us. I don't have a preference as to a mono or cat.
If anyone can recommend a boat/captain/charter service it would be greatly appreciated. It appears our dates will be March 27-April 3, 2016. PM if you prefer.
Kind regards-Paul

Hi Paul and welcome <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/newbie.gif" alt="" />!
Are you looking for a catamaran charter or monohull?

There are several good crewed charter boats as sponsors here. I would check them out.
Most charter companies can set up a charter with captain only as well.
We use BVIYC, I know they have several very good captains available, and you can choose the boat you want be it mono or cat.
Rita It is better to be happy than it is to be right

My wife and I chartered Lightheart through Virgin Island Sailing last May for 3 days. Captain Peter was great.

I would consider a smaller monohull and have a insructor put on board for the trip. Most charter companies could arrange that. After a week you should be good to go on your own next trip! G

We've chartered twice out of TMM. Their sailing instructor Travis is wonderful. You could hire him as an instructional captain and get a little sailing instruction and a fabulous vacation at the same time.

Paul, There is big difference between a bareboat with a captain and a crewed charter. If you are looking for a great crewed charter that is ideal for a couple or family, Catatonic is a Lagoon 440 owner's version (one of the few in the Virgin Islands). This means the entire starboard hull is your "cabin." Most of our guests are couples celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, or renewing their vows, or families with kids either young or older. We offer all of the bells and whistles, plus extras such as SCUBA gear for use for certified divers and of course Kittytonic. Rita is right in that you can't go wrong with any of the sponsors here depending on your needs. We are available for your dates, but tend to book up early. ![[Linked Image]](http://catatonic.smugmug.com/Down-Island-2015/i-wWbtzp3/0/L/DSC_7676-L.jpg)
