Just back from a terrific week in the BVI. Alot of my trip activities were "same old, same old" but I thought a run-down of restaurants and bars would be helpful.

Tortola:
Sugar Mill Restaurant -- I ate there 3 times while we were there (we were staying there). I know that there has been a lot of debate on this one but I love the ambience (very romantic and traditional West Indian), the service is very professional and good, and the food is very good.

Brandywine Bay -- This place has taken sophistication and cuisine up a few notches and is the best on Tortola. It has less of a BVI-feel to it. The service and food were excellent.

Coco Plums: A great choice for a good casual dinner, very reasonable prices. It was VERY busy when we were there. Enough choices to please all kinds of tastes.

Bananqueet: Gorgeous view. Great menu. Staff very eager to please. We went their first for sunset drinks and then ended up going back the next night for dinner. Loved the tuna sushi appetizer.

Sebastian's. A solid choice when you want friendly service and generous portions. Great beachside location. The rum shot at the end of the meal is a nice touch.

Jolly Roger: A great lunch spot. Very casual, laid back service. Good food.

Big Banana Holding Co.: A good lunch spot on Cane Garden Bay. Good for people-watching. Unfortunately, when the cruise ships are in, CGB is too crowded.

Foxy's Taboo: So-so. Was fine for lunch. Service slow. Food okay but nothing spectatcular.

Foxy's Tamarind Bar: Food is excellent and service very good. It was extremely busy that night, with about 5-7 Regatta teams having events but in no way affected the rest of the service. Loved the smoked salmon bruschetta.

Virgin Gorda
Bath and Turtle. A cross between a sports bar and pub. Okay for a no-nonsense breakfast.

Top of the Baths. Not a bad place for a simple lunch. Great view.

Bars

Bomba's: What is all the fuss about? Best for spring-breakers. Other than that, nothing much doing. You wouldn't miss anything if you gave it a miss.
