Some Observations
Best weather we have had since we started going to SXM in 1995. Some overnight rains and a few morning rainbows, but nothing to interfere with our plans.

They may be about to get ready to start to think about starting to plan to do something about Mullet Bay... possibly... We stay at the Towers and the manager there said that Greg Norman has been to look at the golf course once or twice with an eye toward redesigning it. We'll see...

Grand Marche, Gourmet Grand Marche and Food Express have everything we could possibly need. We are there for 4 weeks and cook in quite a bit. Never had a problem finding ingredients.

Golf course was in the best shape since 1995. Still pretty rough but we played once or twice a week. The carts are dwindling down to a precious few.

Mullet Beach changed it's style a few times in 4 weeks. Some days it was very rough surf and a drop off on the beach, and other days it was like a lake with a smooth slope to the water. We heard that some one suffered a broken collarbone from the waves one day.

Several in our group rented cell phones from Sharon. What a good idea!!! So easy to keep in touch with folks back home, and also with our large group in SXM. And none of those awful surprises on the credit card in a few months.

New for us was dinner at Yvette's. You really get your money's worth of delicious food there. We also returned to that area for our annual visit to Poulet D'Orleans. We called on Sunday afternoon for reservations for 6. When we got there we realized he is usually closed on Sundays, but opened just for us. Nice food, nice man, great local ambiance. And again, great value.

Spent one day on the Random Wind. We started with breakfast at Ric's, a ferry ride under the bridge to the boat, a sail to Creole Rock and some great snorkling, nice lunch on board, a couple more stops for swimming, and a fast sail with the wind back to port. Very nice way to spend a day.

We went to the butterfly farm first thing in the morning this year, and were thrilled to be right in the middle of all the butterfly activity. They calm down later in the day so it is good to get there early.

Also visited the zoo for the first time. It is a nice little zoo with animals from the Caribbean. The birds are huge and so colorful. Noticed a few local critters seemingly trying to get in. That speaks well for a zoo, I think!

Some fine dining, lots of ribs from Rosie's at Mullet Beach, and too many trips to the Croissanterie in Marigot rounded out our visit...and our bodies.

332 days on my countdown clock.
