First, Thank you for all the advise that I gleaned off this board over the last year of watching. It made the trip so much nicer.
We just returned from a 2 week stay at Coconut Point on Carrot Bay. I will go day by day as close as possible (memory faulure induced by Carib consumption). Flew out of Minnesota on Northwest airlines through Houston, San Jaun, Then American to Tortola. Long day, they tried to seat us apart on the San Juan leg. I told them we were honeymooning and they found us seats together before the plane took off. Decent flights with no problems. Got in at almost 9, so by the time we got to Carrot Bay it was late for any type of food. Went to Coconut point and had spagetios for late supper. I can really cook! Got up Tuesday and called Denzil to get our Jeep. He came and got us to get the jeep. Price was decent, is the service engine light supposed to be on all the time? I'll get to that later. We immediately went to Cane Garden Bay for the afternoon. Had lunch at Myetts. Good food and good service. Had dinner at Rhymers. Probably the most disappointing meal of the whole trip. Chicken was like it was freezer burnt or something. Wednesday we got up and went to Brewers bay. This is our favorite beach on the island. Had dinner at Sebastians both Wednesday and Thursday. Very good food and service was alright. Watch out for that shot of rum at the end of dinner [Linked Image]. They do include the gratuity on the bill so be aware of that. She got a nice tip the first day. Went to Smugglers on Thursday. Had a very nice day. Wedding at the end of the beach at Sunset. Long bay has a shuttle bus over here for guests so it was more crowded then I liked, but Chris at the bar eased our pain with lots of libations. Friday we did a day sail on the Aristocat. Mike from this site recomended them to us. We had a great day. The other couple never showed so it was just John and Sandra and us. Snorkled the Indians and caves and had lunch at Peter island in-between. Unbelievable day. Would recomend these guys to anyone. Spent time in Roadtown on Saturday shopping. To hot to stay there for long. Had an early dinner in and then went to the music festival. It was a really good time. Quito was great. Parking was a nightmare and leaving was worse. Spent the rest of the trip at Brewers bay. We did one more day sail with the Aristocat to Monkey point, sandy spit, and Jost for Painkillers. We were again the only ones on the boat and had a great day. We ate out at Sky World one night. Bruce is a very good chef. It had great views and even better food. Sat at the bar after and had a drink with Bruce and shot the breeze for a while. He is a very nice guy and a wealth of island knowledge. Had the rest of our meals at Palms Delight. Very, Very good food, very reasonable pricing, and good sunsets. We had good flights home. Was hoping for a bump. The plane was only half full. Oh well, really didn't want to leave.

Few quick thoughts:
1)not all riteways are equal, shop at the one across from the moorings. Better selection.
2)don't take a car with the service engine light on. Ours died at the riteway after we had just been shopping. denzile already closed, so Taxi back across.
3)I would use Denzil again, he had a car there for us the next morning by 8, after I called him at his home, gave an extra half day and drove us to the airport. Good service.
4)Watch out for tips added on.
5)Power went out a lot when we were there. One time for close to 14 hours. Makes for some pretty miserable sleeping and scary with the food in the fridge. Other times wer for only 2 to 4 hours at a time. We did not here any positive comments about the new generators. Only bad.

Better get to work while I still have a job. Will answer any questions. Kevin

Edited by Administrator on 6/5/01 02:12 PM.
