We decided to execute "plan C" one day and rent a car at Tortola. We have never done this on Tortola and thought it would be fun...it was.

First we stopped by the Shell Museum. This place is a wall to wall photo opportunity. the young ~90 year old that runs it is a very sweet man that works with the local community. Mango Pancakes and Banana bread are items he makes there. also he has all the "local instruments" so you can do a jam out with him on his ukulele with everyone in your party.

Next off was to Josiahs Beach. Naomi is the nicest person you can meet. she is also "old island" We sat down and just chatted for a couple hours. when Linda asked for a fish sandwich she said "i will make you one you like" sure enough, Linda said it was the best she ever had. Kingfish I seem to remember.

just looking for nooks/crannies and gems.

Stop by Columbus SunSet Bar in CGB for a drink or quick look around. Sky is usually behind the bar, and Rose, the Queen of CGB is usually holding court too.

While our trips are always land based, the last two have been on Tortola. Plan "C" is always a good choice. We have never made it to Josiahs Beach. Someday....

Great tips! We'll be land based on Tortola for 4 days after our next charter. Bookmarking this thread for then.

Ms Naomi is awesome. We stayed with her a couple of years ago after a sailing trip. We needed to be close to the airport for a very early flight out. Had to be at airport at 6 am. She called her cousin to pick us up at 5. She and her daughter came in our apartment at 5 am and helped us pack everything up and load up the van. We always make a point to go have lunch with her while on Tortola.

On our trip a couple weeks back we pulled into Josiah Beach on our sail from Marina Cay to JVD. Next time, we'll allow more time. It was a beautiful spot.
