All,

We have done a bareboat trip a few times over spring break but this will be the first trip over Christmas break. We will be in the Caribbean from 12/20 through 12/28. We will spend a few days around St. Johns, Peter Island, Scrub Island and Leverick Bay. We are open to other places. Can anyone make some good recommendations on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day celebrations/events? Any other special things to be aware of during this season?

Thanks!

Consider north sound for Christmas. There is usually a nice parade of lights. Consider a slip at leverick.

Second Warren460's recommendation - Christmas eve at the north end of Virgin Gorda - party goes on all night.

...... Reserve a slip now and that's assuming they're not already taken.

BEYC is an alternative but has no TTOL discount that I am aware of.

If you end up with no slips available, two options:

(1) There is good anchoring in a sandy spot close to shore, last line of balls from the fuel dock at Leverick. You can see the spot visually. Other places there's too much grass to get a good bite on the anchor.

(2) Finding ourselves in a similar situation last week (no slips) we took a ball at Saba Rock. $30 includes a bag of ice. This is a great spot for a nice evening breeze (no bugs) and in the spots shaded by the rock itself, its flat as a pancake.

Thx, yes ........ Knowing which anchorages do what gratis or give TTOL discounts can save a good deal of money.

I believe there is a lot of good holding area for anchoring along the western side of Prickly Pear as well.
