I debated on whether or not to write anything because I have so little to say so decided to write a mini report for those who might appreciate an Anegada fix.

For the first time we were able to finagle a trip to Anegada without having to overnight it on Tortola. It was a little stressful and exhausting but I think it was worth it in the end. We headed to Logan (Boston) at 4:15am and arrived on Tortola in time to catch the 3:30 ferry to Anegada arriving at Neptune’s in time for a cocktail and a sunset. During our stay we spent some time with the newly engaged fellow TTOLer’s Judy (Gadagirl) and JD (Diax), and we met many other TTOLer’s but I can’t for the life a me remember their names. Too many drinks I guess. Our stay was rather uneventful. We drove around a little, hit Flash of Beauty, caught a peak at the flamingos and watched Sam Branson (I think)and his friends kite surfing at the Cow Wreck. They were pretty impressive jumping at least 30 feet above the water. Basically we spent most of our 7 days lounging at the Cow Wreck and hanging out at Neptune’s. We basically did nothing which were my intentions exactly.

General observations:

The water is a lot cooler in March than it is in May, June and July. It reminded me of the water temperature of the south side of the Cape in July or August. It’s great for a quick dip but you don’t want to spend too much time in there. The wind may have made the water seem chillier than it actually was because it was certainly windy at the Cow Wreck. Enough so that each day I gathered a thimble full of sand in my ears. I have to admit I missed spending hours in the water with a drink in my hand. I think in the future I’ll stick to May, June or July. But I’m not complaining. The BVI in March beats Boston in March any day.

For some reason I thought high season meant there would be many more people than the typical summer months. Not so. There were as few people there last week as there were in July.

I find the people you meet and the conversations you have are some of the most memorable parts of our trips to the BVI. Some people have such fascinating lives.

This trip just reaffirmed the impression I got from our last trip to Neptune’s and that is that the people there are some of the friendliest, warmest and kindest people there are. And for those of you heading to Neptune’s in the near future be sure to ask Randy what’s in a “Randelicious”.

It's a round trip. Getting to the summit is optional, getting down is mandatory.
