Delta did great - we actually arrived early and got back home on time without a hitch!
We stayed at the Villa Clarissa (2nd time there) - it rocks! It gets better each time we stay there. David is a sweetie!
The weather in one word - Wierd! We had rain for the first four days. The winds were high which made Orient barely tolerable and the rain made it down right cold! The sea was even chilly this year! Weird weather patterns this year! It did clear up toward the end of the week and was quite nice.
We did the day trip to St. Barths via Rapid Explorer (AKA Vomit Comit). Of course I had the Mal de Mar even with all precautions. This is my last trip to St. Barths - it has gotten way to expensive and it seems the locals are more snobbish than ever. We could barely get service at the La Plage for a few drinks and were treated like we had a disease or something. We had two mixed drinks and two colas with a bread basket for $85 along with crappy service! We did eat at Le Select and met the owner Marius. They are famous for their cheeseburger in paradise - it is OK but not great - I guess you pay for eating in paradise! It is hard to beat Saline Beach. It is just a wonderful beach in a wild untouched way. We also stopped off a St. Jean and Gustavia.
Orient was windy every day and the sea a little chilly but once you got in it was great! I miss it already.
Here are the restaurants that we ate at:
Big Fish - Would not recommend it. We had a bad expierence with service and food. Others we met really love it. Don't try the Onion Soup if you go! Mr. Busby's - Great location, good burgers and friendly staff. Kokomarina - Beautiful view Planet Orient - The food is OK - not to die for but they had the best singer and the staff is the most accomadating that I have ever met! The others loved their food - I am just a very picky eater. I would go there again. Safari Grill - We had the pizza and it was really good. Captain Olivers - The fish was great and I love the view of all the boats and you meet the most interesting people there. Daniel's by the Sea - We loved it so much that we ate there two nights - The Lasgana is to die for! Sunset Beach Bar - Great Burgers with awesome view and loads of fun! The tee shirts are just too pricey. Talk of the Town - I love this place. We had so much food we couldn't eat it all. We had the ribs, grilled lobster, macaroni, salad and potatoe salad. It was awesome! Can't wait to go back there. Tap Five - It is hard to beat the chocolate pastries there. We also discoverd a ham and cheese sandwich that they make at 9:30. They are fantastic - I want one now!
We also visited the fort in Marigot. It is a long walk but the view is worth it. Picked up trinkets at the market this year for friends. We did very little shopping this year - all I wanted was the sun!
We had a great trip and can't wait to start planning again.
