We are headed down in early Feb 2016, and will be staying on Tortola. We want to bring the kids to the Baths. We have never gone. Need some good TTOL insight into how to go about seeing it all and avoiding the crowds. We are planning to take the ferry from Road Town but once we get off the ferry really dont know what we are supposed to do or where to go. Do we need to rent a car, take taxi? When we are at the Baths exploring what do we do with phones, towels, flip flop? Any suggestions on where to have breakfast or lunch? Just need the low-down....pls help!

I would get over early in th day and rent a car for certain! It is such a fun island to explore beyond the Baths! You can visit other beaches like Savannah Bay and Spring Bay, drive to the Copper Mine, drive over to the view from Hog Heaven - LOTS of options!

If you want to eat/drink at the Baths, there's a restaurant called Top of the Baths at the top entrance and a snack bar called Poor Man's Bar (cash only) at the bottom. There are lockers for storing your belongings right next to the snack bar.

Bridget is spot on....rent a car and enjoy. You really can't get to lost but get a map (Sort of like the vacation movie...if you see the same thing 3 times in a row...turn right or left <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" /> ) The car rental places will have a car waiting for you at the ferry parking lot with the keys under the mat. You can write wesley@virgingordacar.com or call (284) 496-0383 or (284) 495-5329 (Wesley Potter) for that service. And, you just leave the vehicle in the parking lot like you found it. DO NOT MISS seeing Hogs Heaven while on VG. Fischers Cove has a nice breakfast on their patio http://www.fischerscove.com/ Check the cruise ship schedule as well...when the cruise ships are in they basically take over the Baths for a period of time until around 3p.m.

If it is possible to spend the night on Virgin Gorda, it is worth it. Rent a car and tour the island and head up to North Sound. there is a pirate show at Leverick Bay, The Bitter End Resort and my favorite place, Saba Rock.

Speedy's ferry runs a special every day, leaving Roadtown at 9 AM. Includes taxi to the Bath's and lunch. Not sure if this avoids crowds, though. We did this years ago and it was perfect since we were total newbies at the time. Back then it didn't include the lunch.
