I've heard that Cape Air allows your dog to fly with you in the plane's cabin when flying from San Juan to Beef Island. Has anyone out there got experience with this? - or with flying a dog to BVI in general? Thx
I'm growing old but not growing up!

I have to ask, why don't you call Cape Air directly and ask them?? Even if someone here has been able to do it, it might have been an unusual situation.

I was thinking flying a dog would be pretty cool, picturing a guy riding a dog in the air, something like Wizard of Oz with the flying monkeys. Boy was I disappointed with this thread.

Yes, it would require a Rabi! Who else could do the doggy circumcision?

windward2c said: Do charter companies allow pets on the boats? I'd imagine not. There was no mention of this being for a charter though. At best I could see them allowing a dog that doesn't shed, but if we took our Dalmatian, they'd never get all the hair out, no matter what! To the OP - I would just call Cape Air, but also know that the pilot might be able to make a last minute decision not to take the dog - verify that. We were told we could take and use our car seat - I checked on the phone and in person and we used the car seat on our flight down last trip. On the return, the pilot wouldn't let us use it - said it wasn't approved for that aircraft..etc. Very different experience from our first flight. It was busier, but the way she said it, it didn't seem like that was her issue. Just thought this was worth mentioning - be sure to ask if the pilot can refuse boarding of a pet.
