Gumption has set up a Go Fund Me page to help get his boat repaired.

Gumption's Go Fund Me

The next time you get mad, ask yourself the following question. Will it will matter a year from now?
If it won't, breathe in, breathe out and move on. Life is short, remember to have fun along the way.

Gumption is almost 60% of the way to his target.

Just a random thought here. As a business owner does he not have insurance? Perhaps liability only? As a business owner I couldn't imagine not having my assets covered.

I would assume going to Necker he would need substantial liability coverage.

He either needs insurance or self insurance. I guess his friend did not coach him on this.

Why put in a claim on your insurance if Go Fund Me exists? A claim just increases your premiums...

Slam away but isn't that all part of responsibility? Don't file a claim on insurance IF you have it and just have others pay it for you. This has absolutely nothing to do with individuals and those who have contributed have done so of their free will.
