We haven't been to the BVI since 2008 so looking for the opinions of folks that have used the ferries more recently. Delta has changed our return flight from SST (Monday Feb 8th flight) to 16:25. I'm thinking if we are at the gas dock near TMM by 7:30ish we will have time to clean up and debrief at TMM in time to catch the 11:35 Smith ferry from Road Town.

Also, there is lots of talk about calling Kevin for a taxi ride from SST to the ferry docks on the way in. Is calling him the day of typical?

Many thanks.

-Bob.

Bob, you should be fine. A few weeks ago, our crew had a 2:30 pm flight out of STT on a Thursday. They were taking the Noon ferry from Road Town. TMM will wanted them in a taxi by 10:00 am to get to the ferry. We were staying on so the debriefing wasn't a time crunch for us.
Last March, TMM required that we spend the last night in the marina in order to be debriefed and in a taxi by 10:00 am.
Also, note the fuel dock in Road Town doesn't open till 7:30 am so you'll have to allow for time for that.
Hope that helps!

Keep in mind that the 11:30 Smiths (if it runs) will stop at West End to pick up people before heading to St. Thomas. I personally would try to catch the 10:00 Road Town Fast Ferry, which goes direct to Charlotte Amalie.

You need to give Kevin at least a couple day's notice. You can text or call him at 340-643-0025.

ah the famous island phrase, "if it runs". ;-) Thanks for the reassurance and advice.

Two trips ago I thought from the schedules we'll be fine getting from RT to CA. "You should have taken the 10am". What about the... no answer. Taxi to WE, "plenty of time", they almost didn't let us on the plane. So last trip I'm ready for the 10am, "It's not running today. Taxi to WE...

I'm starting to think this is much more than an island time effect, an effort would have to be made to get it to be the way it is.

Life involves risks, take some prudent ones (NOT with the BVI ferries)!

If you are catching a noon ferry in Roadtown you should not need to leave TMM until 11:30. If you are nervous go at 11:15. I have no idea why TMM is saying 10:00. As long as you get to CA by 2pm you will be fine for the Delta flight.
Personally I would set up a pickup at 9:30 for the 10:00 ferry and arrive CA around noon. Store your bags with the cabbies and go have a nice lunch and relax a bit before the airport adventure!
