Hi all. Heading to this resort in 7 weeks for wife's company trip and I noticed today that it wasn't on the Dreamsresort.com website and was listed at "permanently closed" when I searched on Google. The Google thing could be a mistake but the corporate website not showing the resort is a bit more concerning. We'll survive, maybe I can talk them into chartering some sailboats so we can get back to the BVI's after too many years away.

Any info is appreciated, maybe it was sold?

As I understand it, the hotel has ended its contract with Dreams and AMResorts, but they will continue to operate. I haven't heard who is now managing it, but they are supposed to be open and operating.

Thanks Nutmeg, hopefully they keep operating as before, reviews are generally good but some critical, as to be expected. Hope to get a group together for a run to JVD or St. John for a day too.

There was an article in the dead-tree edition of the VI Daily News this morning. They don't put these online until after they've had a chance to sell all the papers they can at a buck a pop. I will try to post it when it comes online, but it does say Sugar Bay Resort is open and honoring all reservations, etc. Dreams/AMResorts is no longer managing it. You can't get a Dreams-brand wedding, but everything else is the same.

What the heck is a Dreams-brand wedding?

Yes, I figured there was a delay for the online version, after taking a peek yesterday. I'm guessing a "Dreams brand wedding" must be getting married after a small hit of LSD, so that you don't actually remember crazy Uncle Al dancing with his 21 year old date... I could have used a "Dreams Brand wedding" a few years ago. Tough memory to erase.

Here you go: Dreams no more

I never could figure out their business plan. AI does not really work well here, and especially "unlimited luxury" AI. Not to mention requiring a day pass ($100+) to eat dinner or have drinks there.

The corporate powers that be decided that the uncertainty on what to expect without Dreams involved was enough to move the group to the DR, so off to Punta Cana we go. I'm a little bummed, wanted to get back to ST and see SJ but it's a free trip and I'm not in charge. Never been to the DR, so at least that will be something new. I hope they get dialed in at Sugar Bay, the location appears to be pretty good but I agree, all inclusive doesn't seem to be a USVI/BVI model. I like getting off the property rather than staying in one spot anyway. Thanks for the link.

Bolongo Bay also has "all inclusive" pricing, but it's optional. We opted not, because there's so much available on the island.
