We were just there last week. I think the pictures are more impressive than reality. I too miss the lights across the street. Did the merchants pay for those? If they did maybe we should express our opinion to the places we frequent.

I seem to remember something about the lights being taken down for maintenance or low clearance for a truck? and not replaced because of inconvenience of bulb-changing and truck clearance. I'm pretty foggy on this one! Hmmmmm

Thanks for posting the photos! The street seems so empty--I thought it was just that way in July during low season. Maybe it's too early/late?? I miss the lights and the crowds!
