Hi all,

I've been going to the Outer Banks of NC for at least a week every year since I was born, but Nags Head has always been home base. I've hit a lot of the staples over the years (Aquarium, Christmas Store, Elizabeth II, Lost Colony, some festival park events) but I've never stayed overnight there. We'll be there from 6/15-18 this year and my big question is are there any beaches in Manteo? If so what's a good public one? Any other Manteo things to make sure we hit while we're there? Planning to go to Full Moon for some tasty beers, but we like anything and everything.

Thanks!

I do not personally know of any beaches in Manteo. There is a cute, quaint shopping district and a nice marina to walk around in. If you turn left off the main road past the bridge and ride back on the road, you will come to the fishing docks where the boats come in and there are some great seafood restaurants back there.

I believe that there is an aquarium in Manteo, but it has been a while, so my memory might not be that good.

Thanks, you are both correct!

Making a left off the bridge takes you into Wanchese which is where all the fishing boats unload (you can buy stuff wholesale there) and there are a few restaurants but I've only been to one.

The aquarium is in Manteo and we may have to hit that up Saturday since we are kind of in a pickle with checking out of Manteo at 11am but not checking into Nags Head until 4pm.

The wild card here is that we'll have our 9 month old with us haha.
