After heavy renovations to its manufacturing facilities over the last several months, Etna Ice Cream co-owner Betty Smiroldo thought all was set and that ice cream would now be flowing. "We couldn't get the barrel to work," she told us on Saturday, speaking of a key part of the process. "We tried everything and it wouldn't work. We'll know Monday when a new one will be here from Italy," she said. She added that it's metal, heavy, but coming soon. After arrival it'll be thoroughly tested, prepped, and soon will be helping Etna to supply its world famous super-premium ice cream throughout SXM and neighboring islands. It's really extraordinary stuff.
