annie, for the last few years ShopRite has had lobsters anywhere from $3.99-$5.99 per pound when on sale! You have to weed out the soft shelled ones, but, it's worth the effort... (it sometimes pisses off the guy behind the counter that I want to feel every lobster he wants to put in the bag! but the guys get lazy sometimes, and you have to check them!)
BTW... hard shell vs. soft shell? Hard shell have probably 30%-50% more meat vs. water inside the cavity... and the ones with barnicles usually have the most meat!
