For what it's worth, back in early '95, John and I had booked a weeks vacation at Mullet Bay Resort through AA on one of their package deals for November.
Needless to say, Luis had other plans in mind. The airline contacted us regarding that trip and told us our scheduled resort was damaged beyond repair and the island wasn't ready for vacationers and suggested we choose another destination or cancel our vacation plans for that timeframe. We ended up in Aruba - our first and last trip there. I think our minds and hearts were in SXM even if our realities weren't and that ended up as our least favorite of all our different Caribbean island vacations. Aruba just wasn't St. Maarten.
