I have been ask by Val to post the following:

I raised money for my staff through go fund me and purchased lots of items I thought they would appreciate having to help them through the disaster. I shipped them down from Miami and the items were distributed. Unfortunately some of the items got lost at the port and there were delays in shipping due to Maria but most of the items made it. We set up a store of the items and the employees came in and took what they wanted. We gave out generators to those that needed them the most, lots of battery operated chargers, fans, mosquito netting, lights, batteries, food, etc. There was a lot of things that were helpful for those without electricity and those who lost much. We also gave out donated clothing, shoes, towels, linens, etc… In addition all of the employees received a check in the amount of over $800 each and higher amounts to those that were suffering the most. We shared between over 30 employees with nothing out of the fund raiser going to ourselves. Most of the employees were very thankful however, some of them believed they should have gotten more and did not appreciate all the effort that went into the fund raising and the kind donations that so many caring people sent. And most of the ones who were negative, spiteful, and making false accusations were the ones who were living in rented apartments with minimal damage with generators and able to find other jobs.

It has been a very stressful year for all of us. I feel for the employees and everyone that are struggling and feel they are ‘entitled’ to the point that they are slandering us after they were gainfully employed by us for years. We never missed a paycheck in 25 years and I never kept a penny of the money that I was worked very hard at and was able to raise for the employees that we truly cared about. They benefited from all of it, not us. The post that Gracie5 made is simply not true and is local gossip that I’m sure some of the staff with ‘entitlement’ issues started. It is really sad and hurtful. I hope you will take it down.

After over a year, we are finally re-opening our hotel tomorrow! We still have some work to do around the property but the rooms turned out really nice and I think the guests will love them. I would like to advertise with you again.

As for the bar and restaurant… we have entered a joint agreement with Pussers. They are helping us build it back and will take over management very soon. We are still involved and the menu will still have Myett’s best items including crack conch, conch chowder, conch fritters, Myett’s famous BBQ, grilled lobster, and much more. I will still be doing the weddings and events. I am moving my gift shop back over to the office area where we originally opened and Pussers will have a company store where my shop is now. There will be nice showers and nice new restrooms.
