Smith Point it a Suffolk County Park.You were never allowed to use the park as clothing optional,BUT the same parking lot just west of the lot is Otis Pike Fire Island High Dune Wilderness and Wilderness Visitor Center.that is Fire Island National Seashore, this area is managed by the National Park Service. and for the past 25 or more years could be use as a clothing optional beach.
THIS YEAR YOU CAN NOT USE THE BEACH AS CLOTHING OPTIONAL
