The one thing the article doesn’t really emphasize is the like-kind refund only applies to the airline cancelling your flight or making huge and unsatisfactory changes to it. If you cancel the trip, even for Covide-19 reasons, they are NOT mandated to give full refunds and can get away with the vouchers if they are willing to give you anything. That is not true if you buy the refundable tickets.
